Extreme Knitting

Today we wound up a family weekend away with a trip to Taunton to see my in laws. And very lovely it was too!

And here’s me, knitting cable in a moving van while playing eye spy – how’s that for extreme knitting! I also worked back stitches through several rows where it became evident I got the stitch wrong. Knitting like a Boss, that’s how I feel (I’d strongly recommend Fearless knitting from Craftsy). It’s rare I feel accomplished at anything. I usually I dismiss it as being easy or meaningless when ever I could feel accomplished so I’m super glad to be able to acknowledge not only the personality trait but also revise it.

Anyway, I finished this gorgeous extra wide ear warmer… I love this yarn. Gutted it’s no longer available; I’ve traveled through all the knitting sights and ebay to no avail. I’m not sure this one will be for sale.., always a good sign when I get possessive…

#2 getting my knit together

It’s a great day to make sure the gazebo still goes up, the table hasn’t rusted shut and give everything a good ole wipe down…

Also I’ve found another box of yarn, and there was me thinking I was running low. So I’ve got the ocean and pay back in super chunky… Yey!! I’ve got lots of little jobs to do, some sewing up, some sewing on of Om charms and some plain ole finding stuff that isn’t where I thought it was…..all while I bleach my roots ready for fresh colour! Speaking of which I best rinse it off before all my hair breaks off…

Delicious Decisions….

Just look at this lovely yarn….. LOOK AT IT!!!!!!!!!! So good you could almost taste it!!! I can’t decide what to do with it…. it’s just so lovely. It varies in thickness and knits up on 6mm needles….

That red and orange; it’s like a fire right there. I don’t normally go for the hot colours like this, I’m more of a green and blue kinda person but this yarn sang to me…. it shouted YOU NEED ME!!!!! I guess that’s what reds and oranges do huh!?

This is more my style, not so easy to knit with as its got little sequins in but it makes up a luxurious fabric …

Both are from my favourite yarn shop in Bath. It’s an Italian Tailors and they sell Italian yarn, it’s great to find different things…

Anyway I’m thinking lightweight summer wrap for the cool evenings (and let’s face it, days in the UK!) …..

Creativity · learning

Always learning

We bought this beauty after Christmas. I’ve had a few plays with it but that’s about it. To avoid arguments it’s put away while the girl is around …. (I’ve just deleted hundreds of pictures of Mia and Me on the tv, chins, noses, random carpet shots… etc etc for my phone, and wiped the weetabix off the screen)

So anyway, after making a clothes drying rack which I’ve been meaning to do for ages I’ve made a nice cup of earl grey and got the camera out. I’ve already failed on two counts, the book says have the manual alongside the book and the battery is really low. Still undeterred I’ve had a bit of a read in the peace and quiet of the wood and played around with the settings to see the difference it makes.

I’ve watched some YouTube tutorials and info on the camera and I think I’m getting to grips with the different terms, what they mean and what they do… mostly in theory! And now I’m reading about white balance….

All of this might seem a bit off subject but since I take most of the photos of my stuff myself I want them to be the best photos I can achieve. And anyway I love learning, even when I don’t get it, even when the words swim around the page, even when it feels like a foreign language I keep going because slowly but surely things fall into place.

Decision made…..?

img_1521

I’m not feeling very decisive today and I’m also being massively allergic to something today, streaming nose, sore throat, itchy mouth and eyes, the works….but it’s STILL on my list of things to do…”Choose colours for ‘Home Spun’ range.  It’s been there for over a week, winking at me from the page.  So, I’ve sorted the internet out – should have a new box in a few days hopefully, hoovered, cleared through a load of stuff that needed sorting…you know the usual procrastination.  Enough!

After much deliberation, I think I have arrived at a decision for the colours.  Artisan, Mallard, Geranium, Pretty, Ice Gem, Flax.  They all work well together as well as independently and will work well with the designs I’ve come up with.

Later today I’ll order the yarn and the knitting needles but first of all I need some time out, to let the decision settle. I’d love to go for a run to clear my head bur my knees are sore today.  I’ll go for a walk with some good tunes and come back to it… see if I feel the same. I’d have loved Marni, the red… I still might.
